Reivews play a large role on Rivly as the opinions of others matter greatly in the decision-making of our shopper community. For this reason, we designed our marketplace to encourage creativity, honestly and transparency in the review-leaving process. Those that create the most helpful content (as viewed by others in our community) have the opportunity to be rewarded.
The list below can serve as guidelines for you to consider when creating your review as these have resulted from our research and data collected.
1. Use of video - Being able to talk directly to the your fellow shoppers allows them to better understand your feeling and emotions while bringing sense of personality to the review. This relatable behavior has been seen to be very effective in mediums such as YouTube as also seen here on Rivly.
2. Use of images - Shoppers love to actually see what you are referring to and attempting to explain rather than just text alone. It is true that "a picture is worth a thousand words." Also feel free to annotate, markup, and display exactly the point that you are trying to convey.
3. Basic photo/video editing - While candid content is certainly appealing to our community, well-crafted and properly edited content is most often rated as being more helpful. It does not need to be a professional production by any means, but basic editing skills are valuable to create an end product that is worthy of many helpful votes.
4. Spelling and grammar correction - If not already using another service, we recommend the use of the free tool from our friends at grammarly.com to watch your typos and mistakes. Proper spelling and grammar in your reviews will convey more well-thought and professional content.
5. Pros and cons - It is common for many reviews to only point out the great things about a product, but it is appreciated more by our community for a review to also thoughtfully mention any negatives as well (no matter how small they may be). Some of these pros and cons, while small, may have a greater impact on their particular use case or values. This thought process detailed by the reviewer also conveys that they planned the detailed content presented in the review.
6. Comparisons to other competitive products - Research shows that shoppers will often view at least 3 other competitive products before making a final decision on which to buy. Knowing that this comparison process is central to our decision-making, reviews that also follow a similar presentation have been shown to be perceived as very helpful to others. The other products mentioned in the review can be ones purchased on Rivly or elsewhere, but products with verified purchases on Rivly will carry more weight in our marketplace and in the reviewer's eyes.
